Alski famously came up from the ranks, earning distinction on the Aggor Front before being granted the honor of a personal audience with King Edifys Fedderic III. The king was reportedly charmed by the bluff soldier’s no-nonsense manner and lack of social graces, and promoted him to is-Caerten on the spot. The is-Caerten is a demanding leader, expecting the best from his gaefyn, but his section follows him unhesitatingly, for he leads from the front and takes particular care of their well-being out of combat.
Olyvar du-Gwyber is a young scion of the powerful du-Gwyber clan, but despite his lack of years, he has already made a name for himself. During the Tenth Y Bren Cyf Counteroffensive, he rescued no less than eight injured gaefyn while under fire, then led a forlorn hope to destroy a Crusader RR55 field gun in a commanding position. This task accomplished, he carried his wounded crown milwer back to friendly lines, while dragging an uninjured but terrified Crusader rhyfler along for interrogation.
