Test of Honour is a skirmish wargame played on a tabletop battlefield, with roughly 10-20 models on each side. Players select their force before each game based around a hero – perhaps a samurai, a masterless ronin, or even a warrior monk – along with one or two loyal companions and a variety of followers, who could be anything from clan soldiers to peasants.
Battles are swift and bloody as players alternate acting with one of their warriors – moving and fighting to achieve the objective of the scenario, whether that be cutting down the enemy, defending an outpost or finding and protecting a spy.
As you play through the battles, your hero will use new skills, and perhaps even take the shameful path of deceit and trickery to gain victory – such choices are the ultimate test of honour.
This set contains:
3 Ikko Rebels
1 Recruitment Card
1 Trait card
1 Quest card
1 Multi-base
These rebel peasants are armed with a variety of weapons (counting as katanas in a group). The Oppressed Masses trait makes them particularly dangerous against samurai class enemies.
The Ikko-ikki were a rebellious group motivated by religious doctrine. They consisted of peasants, merchants, monks and even low-ranking samurai who all followed a militant sect of Buddhism led by a charismatic priest called Rennyo.
In 1486 the Ikko-ikki staged a violent uprising in Kaga province, overthrowing the governor and taking control for themselves – the first time in Japanese history that commoners had ruled a province.
The movement had thousands of dedicated followers – fanatical Sohei warrior monks as well as simple peasant farmers seeking an escape from their lives of toil and oppression.

An isolated tea house is under attack. The hostess and her clients band together in its defence - peasant and samurai, ronin and priest forced into an unlikely alliance.
Hostess - elegant proprietor - don't underestimate her!.
Ronin Marksman - crack shot with a musket.
Clan Envoy - high-ranking samurai, able to summon reinforcements.
Wise Old Man - with years of experience and local knowledge.
Priest - kneels in prayer to inspire his allies.
Ashigaru Deserter - hated by his former comrades.
Watchman - searches out enemies in the darkness.
Blacksmith - sharpens blades and hits things with hammers!
This set is slightly different to the previous expansions - you can certainly use them together as a complete, and very characterful force, but the individuals are also designed to be added into other forces.Their abilities tend to help the friends around them. For example, the Blacksmith improves everyone's weapons while the Watchman can remove enemy Cautious markers, and of course helps in night battles!

This set contains:
1 Merchant Captain metal miniature
1 Recruitment card
2 Skill cards
During the Sengoku period, Japan was visited by European merchant ships, their captains hoping to make their fortune trading with the strange new territory (as well as helping to spread Christianity).
Inspired somewhat by the Shogun TV series, this figure introduces a Western element to your Test of Honour force. The Merchant Captain is depicted in fencing pose - weight on the back foot - drawing his rapier.
The Merchant Captain has special rules for his rapier, and reflects how the samurai would struggle with the unfamiliar style of swordsmanship. The longer blade and fast, one-handed thrust would often catch them off guard!

This set contains:
1 Hojo Clan Samurai miniature
1 Recruitment card
2 Skill cards
The Hojo clan was famous for building and defending forts and castles.
Consequently his skills make him a specialist at defence and holding objectives. The Stand Fast skill lets him resist being pushed back - a subtle but incredibly useful ability when you're trying to take and hold your ground. Meanwhile the Sentinel skill allows a companion to take an injury instead of being cut down as if they were your hero, if they are contesting an objective. Finally, his Recruitment card allows you to choose which of these two Skill to start the battle with.

This set contains:
1 Rennyo miniature
2 Recruitment Cards - Rennyo and Ikko Preacher

This set contains:
3 Ashigaru with Ozutsu (heavy muskets)
1 Recruitment Card
2 Trait cards
1 Multi-base
Ozutsu are heavy muskets, verging on being hand-held cannons, that pack a serious punch. Warriors armed with them commonly tied a strap of cloth around the barrel and their wrist to help control the recoil.
They give you a whopping 5 dice on the Damage roll but with less range than a normal musket - 16". In addition they can't move during the Shooting action so you'll need to think ahead exactly where to move them. You can find full details in the Sengoku expansion book.
Upgrade them further with either of the two Trait cards included:
Smoke Clouds represents a particularly sooty batch of gunpowder, providing some handy cover for the rest of the turn after shooting.
Too Much Gunpowder boosts your Damage rolls with an extra dice, at the risk of blowing up and taking out the shooter!
Note that both these Traits can be used with muskets of any type.

Superior Saburo leads the defence of the temple-fortress, galloping at his enemies to deliver a devasting one-off attack with the Dive Strike card.
The Sohei sergeant can send his troops surging forward in a sudden wave (or unleash a sudden blast of gunfire if you use him as a gunnery sergeaant) - a definite contrast to the steady ashigaru of the clans.
Meanwhile the Creed Bearer carries a banner daubed with inspiring prayers and religious slogans, making it more likely for nearby believers to trigger their Strike bonuses.
The devout Temple Guards themselves are the toughest fighters, hand-picked from among the warrior monks and able to shrug off minor injuries and carry on the battle unaffected. You can make them even harder to defeat with the Final Guardians trait!
Skill cards include Holy Relic, Hallowed Walls and Power from Grief.

This set contains:
3 Vassal Samurai
2 Recruitment cards
2 Honour cards
2 Dishonour cards
1 Multibase
As the clans of Japan warred with each other, smaller, defeated clans would be forced to swear loyalty to the conquering daimyo. Others would maintain loyalty because of family ties, marriage or tradition. Such vassal clans provided a host of low ranking samurai - skilled warriors, bound to fight for their new lord.
Vassal Samurai are elite followers who can earn Honour and Dishonour cards in the same way as Characters.
The set also contains 2 new Honour cards and 2 new Dishonour cards that add to those in the core set. Inspired and Path of the Samurai give boosts for warriors with the Samurai keyword. Higher Standards punishes those who use dishonour despite having a high Honour stat, while Death of Glory lets a warrior atone for their actions with a risky counter attack!
Note that if your collection includes more samurai figures than the 3 character limit allows for, why not field those as vassals too?Miniatures supplied unpainted and unassembled.

1 Miyamoto Musashi miniature
1 Recruitment card
5 Skill cards
Famed Japanese ronin Miyamoto Musashi was renowned for his unique double-bladed fighting style, for being undefeated in 61 duels and for writing the Book of the Five Rings.
The five volumes of his book set out his philosophy and teachings on martial arts, criticizing excessive stylistic flourishes in favour of a 'down to earth' approach, pointing out that any technique is simply a method of cutting down your opponent.
He advocated fighting with two swords - a katana and a wakizashi - especially when faced with multiple opponents. He is considered a 'Kensei', a sword-saint of Japan.
Challenge:
In each battle, Musashi chooses an enemy character and issues a challenge. Anyone else who attacks either opponent will suffer dishonour!
Five Rings:
At the start of a game Musashi chooses three of the five Skill cards to use in this battle, meaning he will play differently depending on the cards selected. These range from ongoing bonuses to one-off displays of incredible mastery.
