SUMUS APOCALYPSI! The Brutes are the line breakers, the Forlorn Hopers, the hammers of The Damned. Their slogan - “Sumus Apocalypsi!” is a variation of The Damned’s battle cry “Ready for the Apocalypse!” It translates as “We are the Apocalypse!” The Brutes followed in the footsteps of The Vain, a group of abducted Landsknecht who allowed themselves to be genetically modified to be bigger and stronger - without realizing the cost for this was to also become grotesque. For The Damned vanity in the face of coming Apocalypse is absurd. Like they embrace their scars and mutations, those who choose to become Brutes revel in all aspects of their larger, stronger, and more hideous bodies. FROM PHONEY WAR TO DUNKIRK! As Hitler's war machine overran Europe, British soldiers were sent en masse to help defend France and also made a failed attempt to relieve Norway. German Blitzkrieg warfare was too much for the smattering of veterans and relatively green troops sent to Europe after hasty training. Outmaneuvered and outgunned they eventually fell back on the coast. WHO DARES WINS! Inspired by the mobile commandos of the Boer War, the Special Air Service was formed by Britain after the fall of France in 1940. Volunteers underwent rigorous training covering weaponry, stealth, orienteering, air and amphibious assault, demolition, and a number of other critical skills to operate behind enemy lines. AUGEN ZU, UND HINEN! “Shut your eyes and go in!” General Fritz Bayerlein’s exhortation to his Panzer Lehr troops. This elite unit was formed from veterans who participated in the fighting on the Eastern Front, North Africa, and Sicily and was outfitted with the latest equipment of the German war machine. Italian troops fought in France, North Africa, Eastern Europe, Russia and on other smaller fronts in the war. The Allied invasion of Sicily in 1943 sparked an Italian Civil War with Italy surrendering to the Allies in the spring of 1945. This hard plastic box set allows you to build up to 32 soldiers equipped with standard Carcano rifles and carbines, Beretta Model 38s, Breda 30s, grenades, pistols, and more. You can also build up to two Breda 37 heavy machine guns with crew. HALT! STEHEN BLEIBEN!  German soldiers were assigned to thousands of non-combat roles in both conquered territories and within their own borders. Soldiers could be tasked with watching over prisoner of war camps and secret military facilities, as bodyguards for higher command, for run-of-the-mill guard duties and military police roles. In some cases they were taken from the best and brightest, but most were just average men in unexciting jobs. Sometimes, though, even the seemingly most boring role was not necessarily safe. In 1938 the United States was left reeling from the disasterous conclusion of the Carnegie Complex Standoff. Striking workers using captured equipment and rudimentary industrial powersuits managed to put up a legitimate fight against the Odyssia National Guard, and the Federal Army after them. It was made clear from this event that the force-multiplying power of hardsuits would be important in future conflicts, and so the procurement process began that would result in the X19 series. Designed by Marathon Motor Works and issued in large numbers all throughout the Great War, the X19 Badger is the single most produced suit of powered armor ever made. In combat, hardsuits are typically utilized as mobile heavy weapon platforms, or to provide cover for exposed or advancing infantry. When the need arises, multiple hardsuits may be requisitioned to form an armored fist with which to attack. Their thick armor, deceptive speed, and brutal strength prove a formidable combination. It takes a tremendous amount of skill, grit, and luck to survive on the battlefields of the Great War. Amidst the streaking bolts of energy and bullets whipping by, some find their footing and rise to the occasion. The veteran infantry of the United States are those who have seen extensive combat and lived to tell the tale. The Great War lit the entire world ablaze, with millions of soldiers dying within the first year alone. The United States of America, the Great Arsenal of Democracy, has done its best to avoid the conflict, instead simply supplying its comrades in the North Atlantic Alliance since the outbreak. However, their defensive posture in the conflict did not protect them from the fires of battle for long... In December of 1939 the world was shocked by the horror and destruction of the Vancouver Raids. In their wake, millions of United States Citizens volunteered to bring the fight to the enemy. Everyday citizens took up arms to avenge the fallen, and so the United States entered the Great War.
